Quality & Safety

These are a few notes on the safe use and benefits of essential oils. We would suggest you buy a book to gain a deeper knowledge into the use of essential oils. Most essential oils are extracted by steam distillation from the flowers, leaves, wood, resin and sometime the whole plant, whilst others, such as citrus oils, are cold pressed. Essential oils are incredibly concentrated, as the percentage yield of each is tiny. For example, it takes the oil from approximately 15 oranges to fill one 10ml bottle or 4 fully-grown rosemary bushes and how many rose petals? Probably millions – this explains why essential oils are so expensive.

So beware of cheap oils!

We only sell pure and natural essential oils. We are extremely careful about selection and import many oils direct from producers from al over the globe. Those sourced locally come from the most discerning of importers and undergo extensive laboratory testing.

Owing to their concentration, essential oils should always be diluted before applying to the skin. Keep out of reach of children, away from the eyes and do not take internally

Pregnancy: Aromatherapy can be a great bonus during pregnancy and many women find it extremely pleasing and beneficial. However many oils should be avoided whilst pregnant particularly in the first three months. It is always best to seek professional advice before use or at the very least check with a reference book.

Epilepsy: Avoid Eucalyptus & Rosemary

Babies & Children: Again it is best to seek professional advice and always use at a reduced strength. Avoid Eucalyptus and Peppermint.

High Blood Pressure: Do not use Rosemary

Sensitive Skin: Always try a skin test. Use oils at quarter strength, gradually increasing to full strength if no reaction occurs.

Sunshine: Avoid all citrus oils, particularly Bergamot, before going into sunlight or onto a sun bed.

Homeopathy: If using homeopathic remedies some essential oils will nullify their effect.
