Odour intensity: Very High

Description: Veracious green herb with purple flowers native to Mediterranean and West Asia.

Extraction: Steam distilled from whole plant excluding roots

Aromatherapy uses:

Skin: In less than 1% concentration to soothe skin irritation and itching and cooling in after sun treatments.

Nervous system: Refreshing aroma which promotes clear thinking and focus especially when mentally fatigued.  Perfect for a Friday morning to get you through to the weekend.

Digestive system: Used to treat a number of digestive ailments such as dyspepsia, nausea, stomach pains, diarrhoea and flatulence.  Recommend in massage oil less than 1% in combination with Peppermint tea.

Musculoskeletal system: Recommended for the treatment of acute sports injuries or strains such as, sprains and bruising due to cooling and local anaesthetic properties.

Lymphatic system:  As a result of cooling action on skin, messages are sent to the brain to constrict blood vessels helping improve circulatory system.

Respiratory system:  Beneficial in a breath easy blend on the onset of a cold for sinus congestion or for its cooling affect when suffering from illness induced headaches and fever.

Safety: Non-toxic, non-irritant however can be sensitising especially in high concentrations, do not use on the face or around the nose of infants and children.  Select peppermint oils that are lower in Menthone and pulegone, therefore avoid Mentha Arvensis (cornmint).

Suggested Blends:

Digestive massage: 1% in a carrier oil, peach kernel oil for example and massage in a clockwise motion follow the shape of the intestines.

Breathe easy diffuser blend: 1 drop peppermint, 1 drop Eucalyptus Radiata , 2 drops Ravensara.
